PRIVATE MENTORING

Charlotte is uniquely qualified to support authors at every stage of writing a novel; as well as her extensive experience as a creative writing teacher, she also worked in publishing as a fiction editor for twenty years.  She therefore has a long waiting list for writers who would like more focused, tailor-made support.

She has worked with new writers, experienced journalists and bestselling authors, and offers a personalised programme based on the tutee's requirements, from in-depth structural editing and problem-solving to regular morale-boosting meetings and advice about agents and publication. She also can help structure non-fiction, from memoirs to biography and history. She’s very oversubscribed but occasionally has space for a new mentee; please go to the contact page if you’d like to ask for more information.

TEACHING

Charlotte is a highly-regarded teacher of creative writing classes at all levels. She has taught over twenty three-month courses for Curtis Brown Creative, and has also regularly taught for the Women’s Prize Discoveries Prize programme for new writers, the Arvon Foundation, the Guardian/UEA creative writing courses, the London Library. She has conducted numerous workshops and masterclasses on how to write, how to self-edit and, occasionally, how to get published at a huge range of schools, universities and literary festivals in Australia, the USA. the UK and Ireland.
